Our Neighbor, Our Nation’s Capital

Have you heard the exciting news?  Beginning December 7, the MTA will be launching a new weekend train schedule from Baltimore to DC for only $7.00! No need to worry about driving, gas, or parking anymore – just grab the Collegetown Shuttle down to Penn Station and hop on the MARC train to Union Station in DC.  From there, you can switch over the Metro and cruise off to your favorite destinations.  Now you can visit monuments, museums, and more without spending a fortune on transportation.  I know I’ll definitely be making the trip some time soon; here are some of the exciting spots I plan to add to my itinerary:

Metro Stop: Gallery Place/Chinatown (Fare from Union Station: Peak – $2.25, Off Peak – $1.70)

  • Museums, museums, museums! ALL FREE!
    • Smithsonians – There are 19 in total, check out the full listing here
      • National Museum of American History
      • National Museum of African Art
      • National Museum of Natural History
      • National Museum of the American Indian

Metro Stop: Smithsonian (Fare from Union Station: Peak – $2.10, Off Peak- $1.70)

Metro Stop: Farragut North (Fare from Union Station: Peak – $2.10, Off Peak – $1.70)

  • The museum is one block away from the metro station in the Pennsylvania Quarter neighborhood on 800 F Street, NW

  • The Capitol Building  – You can walk there from Union Station!
  • The Lincoln Memorial
