Baltimore: the Food Network Tour

Captain Crunch French Toast at Blue Moon Cafe

Captain Crunch French Toast at Blue Moon Café

Looking for the hottest spots in Baltimore?  Want to eat like a celebrity?  Then look no further — some of the Food Network’s biggest personalities have already done the work for you!  Stars like Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri, and Alton Brown have toured Charm City to feature the freshest, the funkiest, and of course, the most delicious ‘Baltimorean’ restaurants on their programs.  The city is filled with restaurants that have been featured on top Food Network shows like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and the Best Thing I Ever Ate. So if it’s good enough to be on TV, it must be pretty good, right?  I thought I’d compile a list of the amazing local restaurants that have been praised by the celebs.  It’s time to switch up the routine, put the order-in pizza and the take-out Chinese aside, and go find someplace new!

To kick-start your very own Baltimorean foodie experience be sure to pay homage to the most important meal of the day – that’s right, BREAKFAST!   Check out Blue Moon Café for their signature biscuits and gravy, or their Captain Crunch French Toast as enjoyed by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  Or head down to the funky-fresh neighborhood of Hampden and enjoy the Huevos Montulenos (a Mexican inspired egg dish served with corn cakes, beans, chile sauce, feta cheese, salsa fresca, fried banana and flour tortilla – yum!) at The Golden West like Duff Goldman did on The Best Thing I Ever Ate.  If brunch is more your style, check out the Pierpoint Restaurant in Fells Point for some delicious crabs cakes, also featured on The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

You scream, I scream, we all scream for … PIZZA!!  These two hot spots offer a gourmet twist on the college-student staple – Brick Oven Pizza (or BOP, if you want to be hip with the lingo) and Joe SquaredGuy Fieri offered nothing but the highest praise when he tried the Cheesesteak pizza at BOP and the fried ravioli at Joe Squared!

Sandwiches more your style? Then head over to Chap’s Pit Beef for some of their famous BBQ featured on both Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives AND Man vs. Food!  Or, for another between-buns option pick up one of “Baltimore’s best hot dogs” at G & A Restaurant which Guy Fieri enjoyed on the Best from the Road episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.    And if you’re looking to continue your incredible-edible adventures into the wee hours of the morning then be sure to check out Guy Fieri approved joints like the Broadway Diner or Sip & Bite Restaurant, both open 24-hours!

The Baltimore Bomb at Dangerously Delicious Pies

To finish off your Food Network Tour of Baltimore indulge in a rockin’ and rollin’ sweet treat from Dangerously Delicious Pies.  Try the  Baltimore Bomb, it’s a top seller, and features the city’s famous Berger cookie!  This tantalizing treat is a favorite of Baltimore local, Duff Goldman, and was featured on the Guilty Pleasures episode of The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

So now that you have this great list, get out there and see more, B-more, EAT MORE! (And who knows, you may even see a Food Network star along the way!)
